Linocut for E.E. Cummings

Linocut based on E.E. Cummings poem 'It Is At Moments After I Have Dreamed'

"it is at moments after i have dreamed
of the rare entertainment of your eyes,
when(being fool to fancy)i have deemed

with your peculiar mouth my heart made wise;
at moments when the glassy darkness holds

the genuine apparition of your smile
(it was through tears always)and silence moulds
such strangeness as was mine a little while;

moments when my once more illustrious arms
are filled with fascination, when my breast
wears the intolerant brightness of your charms:

one pierced moment whiter than the rest

—turning from the tremendous lie of sleep
i watch the roses of the day grow deep."

Ode To The Nightingale Linocuts

Prints illustrating 'Ode to the Nightingale' by John Keats. Please listen to the poem here. In this print I wanted to show Keats' desire to escape the weary world and follow the nightingale into the dark forests, full of unseen flowers at his feet, soft incense hanging upon the boughs and all the grass, thicket and fruit-trees are growing wild.
I have made two versions of the colour background, I think I will use the first print for the update of my website.

Birthday Present for Martha

Unfortunately missed my niece's first birthday so I made her this print to make up for it. Hope she likes it.

Reworked Linocut Portraits

Reworking these prints a bit, trying out at a few more shading techniques and such like. Might try reprinting Margaret Atwood with a white background and see how that looks soon.
